Funeral services with military honors for Allen Gilmour Bromling, age 87, a resident of St. Joseph’s Nursing Home and formerly of 716 Franklin Street, Ogdensburg, will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Cathedral with Rev. Terry LaValley officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Friday at Frary Funeral Home. Mr. Bromling passed away on Tuesday, December 1, 2009.
Mr. Bromling is survived by his daughter, Patricia
Harrington and her husband, Jon, of West Potsdam and two nieces, Kathryn Lacombe
Woodward of Mississaugua, Ontario, and Donna Kirby White of Rensselaer
Falls. He is predeceased by a daughter,
Nancy B. Wise, in 2004, a sister, Ruth Kirby, and a nephew, Allen Kirby.
Mr. Bromling was born in Ogdensburg on November 4, 1922, the
son of Walter A. and Ethel Gilmour Bromling. He graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on December 16,
1941 and was assigned to Army Air Corp. While in the Army, his unit received the Presidential Unit
Citation. He was honorably discharged on October 3,
1945. He married Kathryn Lynch Bromling
on May 6, 1946 at St. Mary’s Rectory by her uncle, Rev. Dennis Lynch. Mrs. Bromling passed away in August 2008. He worked for New York Telephone as an
engineering manager, working mostly out of the Potsdam, NY office. He enjoyed golf, fishing, playing cards,
bowling and dancing. Mr. Bromling was a
member of the New York Telephone Pioneers, the American Legion, the VFW, the
Ogdensburg Lions Club and a very active member of the St. Vincent DePaul

Foundation, St. Mary’s Cathedral, or to a charity of one’s choice.
