Funeral services for Anne
Milia, age 78, of County Route 6, Ogdensburg will be held on Friday, February 1, 2008 at 11:00 am at Notre
Dame Church with
Msgr. Anthony Milia, brother-in-law of Anne,
as celebrant. Interment will be in Foxwood
Memorial Park. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, January 31, 2008 at Frary
Funeral Home from 3:00 to 7:00 pm.
Mrs. Milia passed away on January
28, 2008 at St. Joseph’s
Hospital, Syracuse.

Mrs. Milia is survived by her husband Placido; one son,
William Milia and his wife Christine of East Hampton, New York; one daughter
and her husband, Susan & Jack Emptage of Amagansett,
New York; four grandchildren, Jonathan
Emptage, Jacqueline Emptage, Christopher Milia and Madeline Milia; one step
grandson, John Emptage and many nieces and nephews. Anne
is predeceased by one brother, Daniel Burns, who died in infancy and five
sisters; Helen Holzhausen, Claire Burns, Barbara O’Shaughnessy, Ruth Burns and
Frances Briggs.

Mrs. Milia was born on January 20, 1930 in Ogdensburg, the daughter of Frank and
Eva (Madlin) Burns. She graduated from
St. Mary’s Academy in 1948. She married Placido Milia on July 4, 1953 at St. Mary’s
Cathedral with Rev. Anthony Milia, brother of Placido, officiating. She was a telephone operator for 15 years. Later she and her husband owned and operated
Milia Shoe Store in Ogdensburg. She was
a communicant of Notre Dame Church,
a past member of the Zonta Club, a member of Claxton Hepburn Medical Auxiliary
and was active with the Ogdensburg Command Performances. She enjoyed reading, golf, refinishing
furniture and cooking.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Notre Dame
Heritage Fund or the Richard E.
Winter Cancer Treatment
Center.

    We all loved her. We had such good times as kids when we were all together–didn’t we? She was the best cook in the world. The day my mom died-Aunt Anne was with me at the hospital and then we all went back to her house and she cooked for us. So many memories……..
