Funeral services for Beatrice G. LaLonde, age 94, will be held on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at 9:00 AM at Frary Funeral Home with Father Richard Sturtz officiating. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, August 29, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Mrs. LaLonde passed away Saturday, August 26, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Nursing Home. The family invites everyone to a reception at the V.F.W. immediately following the funeral service.
Mrs. LaLonde is survived by two sons, Leo LaLonde, of Lisbon, and James LaLonde, and his wife Pamela, of Madrid; four daughters, Linda Compo and her companion, Lester Duvall, Mary Aldridge, Rose Marie Staley and her companion, Paul Brown, all of Ogdensburg, and Pauline Durrand of Norfolk; twenty eight grandchildren; 57 great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son, Joseph; a daughter-in-law, Donna LaLonde; three brothers, Walter, Edward and Louie; and two sisters, Pauline and Belva.
Mrs. LaLonde was born in Gouverneur, NY, on August 31, 1922, the daughter of Elmer and Mabel Ball Lashua. She graduated from Edwards High School. She married Leo LaLonde in 1941. Leo passed away May 5, 1975. Beatrice worked at Cleveland Container and Diamond National in Ogdensburg. Later, she worked as a domestic household cleaner for many local physicians. She was a past member of the Moose and the V.F.W. Auxiliary.
