Funeral services for Beverly McDonough, age 105, of Ogdensburg, NY, will be held in April at St. Mary’s Cathedral at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in the Spring. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Frary Funeral Home, Ogdensburg. Mrs. McDonough passed away on Monday, March 4, 2019, at St. Joseph’s Nursing Home.
Beverly is survived by two daughters; Mary Judith Lockwood and her husband, Charles, of Camillus, NY and Fort Meyers, FL and Sally Planty of Ogdensburg, NY; one son, C. Kevin McDonough and his wife, Barbara, of Ogdensburg, NY; twelve grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
Beverly was born on April 28, 1913, in Ogdensburg, NY, the daughter of Thomas J. and Mary (Lundy) Mallett. She graduated from St. Mary’s Academy in 1931. Beverly married Charles J. McDonough on July 9, 1935, at St. Raphael’s Church in Heuvelton, NY with Rev. Harold J. Martin officiating. He predeceased her on November 14, 1974. Beverly was first employed by the Strand Theatre as a cashier and later worked for Empsalls Clothing Store, managed the hat shop on Ford Street and also the uniform shop here in Ogdensburg.
Beverly enjoyed playing solitaire, reading, sewing, gardening and spending time during the winter months in Florida with her children. She was an avid NY Mets fan and Notre Dame Football fan. Mrs. McDonough was actively involved in Republican Party politics and was also an election inspector in the city for many years. Beverly received the Betty Kaplan Award in 2004.
