Funeral services for Brenda Mary (Casey) LaRose, 78, of Ogdensburg, NY will be held on Monday, July 8, 2019, at 2:00PM at St. Mary’s Cathedral with Rev. Justin Thomas officiating. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, July 7, 2019, from 6:00 to 9:00PM at Frary Funeral Home, Ogdensburg. Brenda passed peacefully on Thursday, July 4, 2019, at home with her loving family by her side.
Mrs. LaRose is survived by her husband, Wayne LaRose, of Ogdensburg; her children Stephen and his wife, Monica, of Ogdensburg, Scot (Duff) and his wife Debra, of Ogdensburg, Wendie of Austin, TX, Cory of Middletown, MD and Julie of Springfield, VA; nine grandchildren, Wayne, Claire and Jade Sexton, Breton, Cavan, Kinnon and Brogan LaRose, Max LaRose and Michael (Kate) Spriggs; three great grandchildren, Belle Dora Wilkinson, Hunter Spriggs, and Austin Spriggs; her brother-in-law, Eben Graveline, two nieces Casey Garvey and her husband, Robert, and Kelly Graveline and her husband, Michael Sohal, both of Springfield, VA and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Brenda was predeceased by her parents, William and Dora (Fortin) Casey; her sister Jane Graveline; and her granddaughter, Mary Catherine LaRose.
Brenda was born on September 11, 1940, in Ogdensburg, the daughter of William and Dora (Fortin) Casey. She graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy in 1958. Brenda married Wayne LaRose on November 21, 1959 at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Ogdensburg. Brenda started her career at Beneficial Finance and ended her career retiring from the Ogdensburg City School District on July 1, 1999 as the Secretary to the Assistant Superintendent of Schools. Brenda’s career in the District began at Kennedy School and then moving to the Athletics office at Ogdensburg Free Academy. She was known as a fiercely private and confidential person. She was not afraid to voice her opinion. Brenda was very proud of her children and grandchildren and until her health failed was very prominent, with her husband, Wayne, at athletic events all around the North Country.
Brenda was a great woman of faith and volunteered for years at St. Mary’s Cathedral in various roles.
Brenda enjoyed all the holiday’s especially Christmas, watching her grandsons compete in all activities, and visiting her children and grandchildren in various places around the country.
