A Celebration of Life for Bridget L. Sharpes, age 55, of Heuvelton, NY, will be held at the convenience of the family at a later date. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Frary Funeral Home, Ogdensburg. Mrs. Sharpes passed away on May 17, 2019, at SUNY Upstate Hospital in Syracuse, NY, surrounded by her loving family.
Bridget is survived by her husband, Joseph E. Sharpes of Heuvelton, NY; her children, Jessica Sharpes of Catasauqua, PA, Scott Sharpes of Bremerton, WA and Doug Jones of Lebanon, TN; her mother and step father, Cynthia and Fred Kinch of Ogdensburg, NY; four grandchildren, Jaxson O’Brien, Morgan Jones, Emily Jones and Avery Jones; her siblings, Brian Duprey, Jamie Kinch, Benjamin Duprey and Lori Kinch; aunts and uncles, Terry Dominee, Hank Duprey, Mary Shattuck, Emmy Dishaw and Patricia Russell; a sister-in-law, Tony Duprey and Rhonda O’Neil and a brother-in-law, John Hawkins; grandparents, Howard Donaldson and Avis Manealy, many nieces, nephews and cousins. She is predeceased by her step-mother, Jeannine Duprey and a sister-in-law, Kelly Bachman.
Bridget was born on August 16, 1963, in Ogdensburg, NY, the daughter of Benjamin Duprey and Cynthia Donaldson. She graduated from Heuvelton Central School in 1982 and served in the United States Army as a Radiology specialist (68p). Bridget also trained as a X-Ray technician in Fort Jackson, Fort Sill and Fort Drum. Bridget married Joseph E. Sharpes on November 14, 1987, in Columbia, SC, by the Justice of the Peace. The couple moved back to the North Country in 1989. Bridget worked as a X-Ray technician at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center, later going back to SUNY Canton for her nursing degree in 2005. Bridget later was employed by Riverledge Nursing Home, Canton Potsdam Hospital and lastly, St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center in Ogdensburg.
Bridget enjoyed the woods, the river and spending time outdoors. She loved horseback riding and showing horses, Indy, Hannah and Ruby. Bridget was a member of the National Nursing Association and also a member of the New Life Assembly of God Church in Ogdensburg. Her strength was something to be admired.
