Funeral services  for
Charles J. Caufield, age 64, of 8 Rensselaer Ave., Ogdensburg, will be held
Thursday, December 11, 2008 at St. Mary’s Cathedral at 10 a.m.  with Rev. Terry LaValley  officiating. Calling hours will be held on
Wednesday (December 10, 2008) from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 at Frary Funeral Home.  Mr. Caufield passed away on Saturday, December
06, 2008 at his home surrounded by his family.

Mr. Caufield is survived by his ex-wife, Ann, two sons,
William and his wife, Darlene, of Cohoes, NY, and Richard and his wife, Kim, of
Bristow, VA; one daughter, Angie Caufield and her companion Dale Bouchey of Ogdensburg;
four  grandchildren, William, Jr.,
Timothy, Erik and Sarah Caufield; two sisters, Kathryn Massia and her husband,
Robert, and Sandra Wilson and her husband, David, all of Ogdensburg; and three
brothers, Donald and his wife Mary Anne, Arthur and Lawrence Caufield, all of Ogdensburg.  He was predeceased by two nephews, Gary
Wilson and Michael Massia and his sister-in-law, Jane Caufield.

Mr. Caufield was born on April 11, 1944 in Ogdensburg, the
son of Frederick and Hildred Leeder Caufield.
He graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy in 1962.  He married Ann Dobisky on September 5, 1969
at St. Mary’s Cathedral with Msgr. Joseph Bailey officiating.  Mr. Caufield was first employed by Joseph
Ashley of Ogdensburg Building Supply delivering lumber.  He then became employed for a short period
for McCadam Cheese.  He later became employed
as a steel building contractor for Kirby Construction Company for 27 years.

Mr. Caufield enjoyed camping on the St. Lawrence River,
bowling, playing cards, and gardening.
He also enjoyed meeting his friends at Stewart’s and playing lotto
scratch tickets.  He loved his children
and grandchildren.

Mr. Caufield took great pride in taking care of all the
family cemetery plots at St. Mary’s Cemetery, the Jewish Cemetery and
Ogdensburgh Cemetery.

Donations may be made in his memory to Hospice of St. Lawrence

    I am sorry to hear of Charlie passing. I have good memories of Charlie from my childhood when he worked for my grandfather (Spencer). I still remember the men all gathering at the house for lunch. Charlie was always friendly to us as children. Brandi Simmons

    I will certainly miss my little visits with Charlie, he had a great sense of humor and a strong will. He was a great guy and I am glad to have known him.
