Funeral services for David E. Castleman, Sr., age 65, of Heuvelton will be held on Friday, May 16, 2008 at 11:00 am at St. John’s Episcopal Church with Rev. Robert Longbottom officiating. Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery, Waddington. Calling hours will be held at Frary Funeral Home on Thursday, May 15, 2008 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Mr. Castleman passed away in the emergency room at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center on Monday morning, May 12, 2008 after being stricken at home.

Mr. Castleman is survived by his wife, Gale; two sons. David E. Castleman, Jr and his wife Lynn of Massena and Kenneth Castleman of Fruitland Park, Florida; three grandchildren, Rebecca Castleman, Harley McGovern and Alex Castleman.

Mr. Castleman was born on September 7, 1942 in Potsdam, NY, the son of Kenneth E. Castleman and Margaret E. (Lottie) Castleman-Johnson. He attended Madrid Waddington School. He married Gale Pickett on September 25, 1965 at Lasalle Baptist Church in St. Louis, Missouri. Mr. Castleman worked as a mechanic for Barstow Chevrolet in Potsdam for 10 years then going to work for the Heuvelton Central School Bus Garage where he retired in June 2004 after working 28 years as the Head of Transportation. He enjoyed working in his garden and loved his cat.

Memorial contributions can be made in David’s name to the SPCA.

    Gale and Family,

    I am so sorry to read of Dave’s passing and would like to send my condolences to you.

    My parents lived on the Hutchinson Rd. and knew both of you. (Stewart and Dorothy Murdock). Mom worked at HCS and also went to St. John’s Church.

    My thoughts are with you at this time.
