services for Donald J. Johnson, age 65, of Ogdensburg will be held on Monday, December
7, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Cathedral with Rev. Terry LaValley officiating.
Burial will be in Ogdensburg Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Sunday,
December 6, 2009 from 2:00pm- 4:00pm and 6:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m. at Frary
Funeral Home. Mr. Johnson passed away
Thursday, December 3, 2009 at  Claxton Hepburn Medical Center.

Johnson is survived by his loving wife Catherine (Kitty); one son Terry A.
Johnson and his wife Rhian of Australia; one daughter Bridget M. Bice and her
husband Michael of Ogdensburg; five grandchildren Joshua and Annika Johnson of
Germany, Jasmine Johnson of Australia, and Michael and Elyssa Bice, both of
Ogdensburg; A sister Rita Rolfe of Ogdensburg, a brother Daniel Johnson of
Heuvelton, and several nieces and nephews.

Johnson was born September 17, 1944 in Ogdensburg NY, the son of
George and Rita LeMay Johnson. He graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy in
1962. After graduation he enlisted in the Navy August 14, 1962,
where he was a Machinist Mate 3rd Class. During his service he
earned the Armed Forces Expeditionary Metal and he was honorably discharged
January 12, 1966 in Norfolk VA.

Johnson married Catherine Erwin August 19, 1967 at St. Mary’s
Cathedral in Ogdensburg. In 1977, he began his career as a firefighter for the
Ogdensburg Fire Department. After 22
years of service he retired in April of 1999 as a Captain.

Johnson took pleasure in hunting, fishing and spending quality time with all his grandchildren.

      Thank you so much Anne for you sincere words of kindness. He has been slowly failing for a few years now and has been on oxygen 24/7…it was definitely unexpected but hopefully he is now at peace.

      Thank you for thinking of us. You father was with us this morning. He has been slowly failing for awhile, we didn’t expect this. He is in a better place now and is no longer suffering. Kitty, Bridget, Terry
