Funeral services for Donna Stowell, age 68, of Albany Ave., Ogdensburg, will be held on Wednesday, June 10, 2009, at 1:30 p.m. at St. Mary’s Cathedral with Rev. Terry Lavalley officiating. Calling hours will be held on Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Frary Funeral Home. Mrs. Stowell passed away on Sunday, June 07, 2009, at her home.
Mrs. Stowell is survived by two daughters, Carrie Sherman of Tonawanda, and Karen Stowell of Ogdensburg; four sons, Steve Stowell of Chicago, Robert Stowell of Rensselaer Falls, Wayne Stowell and his wife Virginia of Austin, Texas, and Thomas Fitzgerald of Arizona; one brother, Donald and Connie Powers of Massena; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by one sister, Marie Ferguson.
Mrs. Stowell was born on December 27, 1940 in Ogdensburg the daughter of Thomas and Carrie LaRock Powers. She attended local schools. She was part owner of Buck’s Place in Rensselaer Falls. At one time she took care of the elderly; she was also a housekeeper for many homes and businesses in the North Country.
She was well known for her homemade jam. She was also well known for helping others in need, or helping set up jamborees for others who were down on their luck. She enjoyed crafts, going to Bingo, and having coffee with her many friends.
Donations may be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, or to the charity of one’s choice.
