Eldena R. Cleeland Tierney

Eldena R. Tierney, age 98, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 8, 2017 at the Country Manor Nursing & Rehab Centre where she had been a resident for the past 6 years. Arrangements are entrusted to Frary Funeral Home, Ogdensburg, New York. There will be no calling hours. Graveside service and burial for Mrs. Tierney will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 10:00 am in the Hill Crest Cemetery, Heuvelton, New York.

Eldena is survived by one son, Gary F. Chevier of Grapevine, Texas, eight grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, and four great, great grandchildren. She is predeceased by one son, Peter F. Chevier, Jr. of Gouverneur, New York.

Eldena was born on September 11, 1918, in Heuvelton, New York, to Fred and Alma Jannack Cleeland. She later married James R. Tierney in 1967 in Canton, New York where they resided for over 40 years. He predeceased her on June 2, 2010.

In addition to being a wife and a mother of two wonderful and successful sons, Eldena spent many years in the employment of A&P Grocery Store chain in Ogdensburg and later in Canton, NY. She had a true heart for birds and for dogs, providing a loving home for some of the dogs rescued by the local shelter.
