Funeral services for Frances T. Davis, age 95, formerly of
Riverview Towers, Ogdensburg, will be held on Tuesday (March 17, 2009) at 11:00
a.m. at Frary Funeral Home with Rev. F. James Shurtleff officiating. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery in the
spring. Calling hours will be held from
10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Davis passed away on Sunday afternoon, March 15, 2009, at United
Helpers Nursing Home.
Mrs. Davis is survived by one daughter, Diane Courtney, of
Ogdensburg; two sons, William Tupper and his wife, Keitha, and Terry Tupper and
his wife, Margaret, all of Ogdensburg; eight grandchildren and two great
grandchildren. She is predeceased by
three brothers, Wallace, Donald and Bernard McCaffrey; and two sisters, Shirley
Baxter and Pauline Lindner.
Mrs. Davis was born on September 28, 1913, in Westville, NY,
the daughter of Wallace and Bertha Santamoor
McCaffrey. She graduated from
Westville High School in 1931 and graduated from A. Barton Hepburn School of
Nursing in 1934. She married Stillman
Tupper on July 4, 1935 at St. Joseph’s Chapel in the Orphanage with Rev. Joseph
Stickelmeyer officiating. Mr. Tupper
died on April 22, 1968. Mrs. Davis came
to Ogdensburg after graduation to attend nursing school. She worked at A. Barton Hepburn Hospital and
later worked for Dr. Kinnosin. She
retired from United Helpers Nursing Home where she worked for many years. She was very active at Notre Dame Church and
volunteered at Hepburn Hospital. She
enjoyed sewing, knitting and crocheting.
She made doll clothes that she donated to Toys for Tots.
