George W. Dishaw

Funeral services for George W. Dishaw, age 90, of Caroline
Street, Ogdensburg, will be held on Friday, December 19, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at
Notre Dame Church with Rev. F. James Shurtleff officiating.  Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery in the
Spring.  Calling hours will be held on
Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Frary Funeral Home.  Mr. Dishaw passed away on Sunday (December
14, 2008) at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center.   

Mr. Dishaw is survived by his son, Mark and his
daughter-in-law, Charlene, of Oshkosh, WI; two grandchildren, Jeanne Shiyu Elizabeth
Dishaw and Margaret Anshan Virginia Dishaw; and nieces and nephews.  He is predeceased by one sister, Edna Burns
and three brothers, Ralph, Frank and Henry in infancy. 

Mr. Dishaw was born on May 4, 1918 in Ogdensburg, the son of
Octave and Anne Needle Dishaw (Deschamps). 
He graduated from OFA in 1936.  He
served in the U.S. Army Air Force in 1942 and was honorably discharged in
1945.  He married Virginia McCaffrey on
November 4, 1950 at Notre Dame Church with Rev. A. D. Charbonneau
officiating.  She predeceased him
1991.  He worked at the U.S. Bureau of
Customs as an Inspector.  He retired
after 31 years of service.

Mr. Dishaw was a member of the V.F.W.   Donations may be made in his memory to the
Notre Dame Heritage Fund.

    Marc and Family, Sorry to hear about your dad. Growing up with Walt (everyone called him Walt). He was always at our house. He was my first cousin and a very good friend. Martha Needle Monnett
