Funeral services for Gertrude Moore, age 91, formerly of
Madlin Drive, Ogdensburg, will be held on Monday, June 28th at 11:00
a.m. at Notre Dame Church with Rev. F. James Shurtleff officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Calling
hours will be held on Monday from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at Frary Funeral Home. Mrs. Moore passed away Friday, June 25, 2008
at St. Joseph’s Nursing Home where she had been a resident for the last two
Mrs. Moore is survived by two daughters-in-law, Margaret
Sears, of Ogdensburg and Mrs. David (Carol) Moore of Plattsburgh; one
granddaughter, Kimberly Fisher, of Plattsburgh; and two great grandchildren,
Sasha and Elizabeth Fisher, both of Plattsburgh. Mrs. Moore is predeceased by a son, Robert Sears
in 1997, a stepson, David Moore; a grandson, Kevin Sears at infancy; two
brothers, Charles and Lawrence Sears; and three sisters, Eva Dionne, Myrtle
Sears and Florence Gotham.
Mrs. Moore was born on March 5, 1917 in Oswegatchie, the
daughter of Charles and Rose (Bowen) Sears.
She graduated from St. Mary’s
Academy. She worked for the St. Lawrence
Psychiatric Center, the Surprise Store and Carbino’s Jewelry Store. She married Clifford Moore on July 17, 1950
at St. Mary’s Cathedral. He predeceased
her in 1980.
Mrs. Moore enjoyed camping, traveling and tending to her
flowers. She was also known to tell a
good story and sing old songs.
