Funeral services for Grace E.
Rickett, age 81, of Heuvelton, NY, will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2009 at
10:00 AM at Frary Funeral Home with Rev. Lee Lewandowski officiating. Interment
will be at Foxwood Memorial Park in Ogdensburg, NY.  Calling hours will be
held on August 12, 2009 at Frary Funeral Home from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to
8:00 p.m. Mrs. Rickett passed away on Friday
(August 7, 2009) at United Helpers Nursing Home. 

Mrs. Rickett is survived by three
sons; Barry and his wife Cindy of Pittsford, NY, Jerry and his wife Karen of
Elk Grove, CA and Allen Rickett and his wife Ursula of Heuvelton, NY; six
grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; two half sisters, Linda Scott of Canton,
NY and Lida Cavanaugh of New Mexico; and several nieces and nephews.  She
was predeceased by her brother, George Jr. who died at the age of three.

 Mrs. Rickett was born on November
21, 1927 in Pyrites, NY, the daughter of George and Irene (Carpenter) Stowell.
She attended local schools.  She married Walter (Glen) Rickett on January
28, 1948. Mrs. Rickett was employed as a
beautician for over 35 years and owned her own business, Grace’s Beauty Shop
for over 20 years.

 Mrs. Rickett was active in the
Eastern Stars and chaired many committees, and she was the past District Deputy
of the St. Lawrence Chapter. Mrs.
Rickett received a certificate in commemoration of the completion of fifty
years as a member of the Order of Eastern Star of the State of N.Y. on June 24,
2009. She was also a member of the
Lisbon American Legion Auxiliary, and she also was the past County President of
the St. Lawrence County American legion Auxiliary. After
retiring, she enjoyed knitting sweaters for everyone in her family including
her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Donations may be made in her memory
to Heuvelton Volunteer Fire Department. The
Eastern Star will meet at the funeral home at 7:30pm Wednesday evening.

    Glenn, Barry, Jerry, Al and Families, I was so sorry to read online of Grace’s passing. I have many fond memories of things we all used to do together.
