Graveside services for Joseph Gordon Wells of Ogdensburg and
formerly of Florida will be held Wednesday November 25, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Notre
Dame Cemetery with
Rev. F. James Shurtleff officiating. Mr. Wells died November 17, 2009 at the home of nephew Harry
and Pat Wells. Arrangements are with
Frary Funeral Home.
Mr. Wells is survived by numerous nieces and nephews and
their families. He was predeceased by his parents; four brothers, Albert,
Theodore, Harry, and Mike; four sisters, Frances Halliday, Irene Mastine,
Harriet Hall, and Blanche Ludwig.
Mr. Wells was born on
May 15, 1925 in Ogdensburg, the son of Wilbur and Georgianna Menard Wells. He
attended local schools. During World War II he worked in Rome, N.Y at the
airbase, and later went to work at a plant in Buffalo where pianos were made. He
then moved to Jamestown, N.Y. where he was a Union Organizer up and down the
East Coast. When he retired he moved to Fort Lauderdale and Auburndale, Florida.
In 2006, he moved back to Ogdensburg to be closer to his family.
Mr. Wells enjoyed reading and was an avid bridge player; he
belonged to St. Josephs Church in Winter Haven,
