Funeral Services for Lawrence J. Powers, age 63, of Heuvelton, NY, will be held on Friday, October 26, 2018 at Frary Funeral Home at 11:00AM with Deacon Mark Lalonde officiating. Burial will in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, October 25, 2018 at Frary Funeral Home, Ogdensburg from 2:00PM to 4:00PM and 6:00PM to 8:00PM. Mr. Powers passed away at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center on Monday, October 22, 2018.

Larry is survived by his loving wife, Carla; a son, Lucas Powers of Ogdensburg, NY, a step-son, Brian Wood and his wife, Brittany, of St. Albans, VT; a sister, Debbie Moore of Ogdensburg, NY and many cousins and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, Lawrence and Yvonne Powers.

Larry was born on January 26, 1955, in Ogdensburg, NY, the son of Lawrence W. and Yvonne M. (Kirby) Powers. Larry graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy in 1974. He married Carla Thompson on September 11, 1993, at the Stone Presbyterian Church. Larry first went to work in 1981 for St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center as a therapy aide for thirteen years and later was employed by Corning, Inc. in 1997.

Larry enjoyed golfing, playing basketball and photography. He also loved the St. Lawrence River and was an avid fan of Syracuse Basketball.

Donations may be made in Larry’s memory to the Ogdensburg Boys’ and Girls’ Club, 610 Paterson St, Ogdensburg, NY 13669 or to the Ogdensburg Biddy Basketball League.

    We are so sorry for your loss! The funeral service was beautiful! I knew in school he was so handsome,smart and athletic.To hear how compassionate and kind he was at work,his interest in music,writing and photography gave extra insight into the wonderful person he was. I will miss my cousin and my thoughts and prayers go out to his family.
