Marie J. Garno



Funeral Mass for Marie J. Garno of 232 Washington St.
Ogdensburg will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at St. John’s Episcopal Church with
Rev. Scott Garno officiating, assisted by Rev. Robert Longbottom and Rev. Art
Garno.  Burial will be held at Foxwood
Memorial Park immediately following the service.

Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. and
Thursday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Frary Funeral Home.

Mrs.  Garno died
Tuesday (July 1st, 2008) at United Helpers Cedars Nursing Home.

She is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Donna
and Fran Burdick of Ogdensburg, and Heletha and Fred Perrin of Ogdensburg; one
son and his wife Arthur and Tammy  Garno
of Ogdensburg;  one sister Heletha I.
Gilbert of Ogdensburg; 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren with two more
on the way.

Mrs. Garno was born in Ogdensburg on June 1, 1927, the
daughter of Arthur  and Mary Trotter
Swann.  She graduated from Ogdensburg
Free Academy in 1945. She then attended Ogdensburg Business School.

She married Donald T. Garno on May 3, 1947 at St. John’s
Church.  He passed away in 2000.

Mrs.  Garno was a
bookkeeper for Augsbury Corporation for over 20 years before her retirement and
then worked for H & R Block as a customer service representative.  Also, in the early 60’s she and her husband
operated Garno’s Bakery on lower Ford Street before Urban Renewal.

She was a lifelong member of St. John’s Episcopal Church,
Pastoral Care Group, Ogdensburg Senior Citizens, The Red Hatter’s, and in her
earlier years she was a girl scout leader.

Donations in memory of Marie can be made to St. John’s
Episcopal Church.

    Dear Donna/Fran, Lee /Fred, Arthur/Tammy: on behave of my immediate entire family , we would like to express our deepest condolences at this time on the recent loss of your Mother. Marie was such a part of my growing up in Ogdensburg as she was always so close with my own Mother over the passing years. She will be sadly missed as I/we will always remember her smile and pleasant personality. “Full of fun” and a pure joy to visit with.
    Janet and i live in New Hartford, NY and would appreciate hearing from you and how you are doing……….
