Funeral services for Marion E. Long, age 90, of 232 Washington Street,
Ogdensburg will be held on Friday,
February 15, 2008 at 9:30
a.m. at St. Mary’s Cathedral with Rev. Terry LaValley as
celebrant. Burial will be in the spring
at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Pompay,
NY. Calling hours will be held at Frary Funeral
Home on Thursday, February
14, 2008 from 4:00
to 6:00 pm. Mrs. Long passed away at Claxton Hepburn
on February 12, 2008.
Mrs. Long is survived by two sons; Donald Long of Georgia and
Robert and Susan Long of Ogdensburg, a sister Sarah Francher of St. Joseph
Nursing Home, two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by two sister; Evelyn
Pouque and Catherine Valerino.
Mrs. Long was born on May 17, 1917 in Syracuse the daughter of Matthew and Eva
(Bergeron) Mahar. She graduated from Solvay
High School in 1931 and Onondaga Business School. She married Donald Long on November 26, 1949
in Lakeland, NY with Rev. Redding officiating.
He predeceased her in 1976. She
worked as a bookkeeper and operations for the Internal Revenue Service in the Albany and Syracuse offices for many
years. She was member of the VFW
auxiliary and she enjoyed playing poker.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Ogdensburg Rescue
Squad and the V. F.W. Auxiliary in Ogdensburg.
