Martin W. Langridge

A Memorial Service for Martin Walter Langridge, age 79, of Harrisville, NY, will be held on June 15, 2019, at Frary Funeral Home, Harrisville with Rev. Canon Samuel P. Lundy, Jefferson County Deputy Fire Coordinator for Chaplain Services officiating. Burial will follow in Harrisville Cemetery. Mr. Langridge passed away on Monday evening, February 12, 2019, at the Hospice Home of Jefferson County in Watertown surrounded by his loving family.

Martin is survived by his wife, Patricia Langridge of Harrisville, NY; three children, George M. Langridge and his wife, Lisa, of Colorado Springs, CO; Norma Bango and her husband, Col. Anthony, of Kailua, Hawaii and Thomas Langridge and his wife Nicole, Alexandria Bay, NY; three step children, Debra Hoppel and her husband, Brian, of Castorland, NY; Tonia Meyer and her husband, Brian, of Front Royal, VA and Corey Chartrand and his wife, Laura, of Star Lake, NY; a sister, Margaret Mccauley and her husband, James, of Watertown, NY; thirteen grandchildren, eight step grandchildren, several great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Martin was predeceased by three sisters, Janet Rose Jacobson, Bill Betsy (Annie) Cutter and Mary Louise Seymour and one brother, Adolph Langridge.

Martin was born on June 7, 1939, in Hackensack, NJ, the son of George Langridge and Mararet Rose Tocas. He graduated from Cliffside High, Cliffside NJ. Martin later joined the Army Reserves for six years until he was honorably discharged. He married Loretta Bedore on July 12, 1962, which later ended in divorce. Martin later married Patricia Ann Boyles Chartrand on August 4, 2007, in Harrisville, NY. Mr. Langridge spent three years as Pantryman at Richfield Lodge in Richfield, NY, later moving to Watertown NY in 1958 where he worked at the Crystal Restaurant for 22 years. Martin came to Harrisville in 1987 where he drove school bus for 3 years for Harrisville Central School; he then worked for Williamson Services for 15 years until his retirement. Martin also worked for Burns Security for 4 years.

Martin was a member of the Adirondack Grange, Harrisville Volunteer Fire Department and was an EMT for 20 years. Martin was also a Camp Ranger at Camp Portaferry for 3 years and was also very active in Scouting, where held the position of Scout Leader, for 30 years.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Martin’s memory to the Hospice House of Jefferson County, 1398 Gotham Street, Watertown, NY 13601.

    Lots of great Scouting memories of your Dad. I have a picture of him when he was assisting Mrs. Jones in the camp kitchen…it seems like yesterday.
