Funeral services for Dr. Michael Michaelides, age 80, of 423 Elizabeth Street, Ogdensburg, will be held on Wednesday, January 14 at 11:00 a.m. at Frary Funeral Home with Rev. Phillip Yanoulis officiating.  Entombment will be in Foxwood Memorial Park.  Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.  Dr. Michaelides passed away on Friday, January 9, 2009 at his home.

Michaelides is survived by his wife, Susanne; two daughters, Thomae
Hewko, a science teacher at Ogdensburg Free Academy and her husband,
Carl, and Athena Graves, DDS, and her husband, Jeffrey of Plattsburgh
NY; two sons, Elias Michaelides, MD, Asst. Professor of Surgery at Yale
School of Medicine, and his wife, Stephanie, and Constantine
Michaelides, MD, a radiologist at Yale School of Medicine; five
grandchildren, Alexander and Theodore Hewko, Michael and Vaia Graves,
and Michael Michaelides; and three sisters, Roxane Kassapidis, of
Astoria, NY, Despina Demetriadis, of Old Tappan, NJ, and Theodora
Birdas, of Salonika, Greece.  He was predeceased by a brother, Thomas.  
Michaelides was born in Mesologos, Greece on August 4th, 1928, the son
of Kostandinos and Athena Michaelides and Elias and Thomae Michaelides.
He studied medicine at the Aristotle University in Thessaloniki, Greece
and received his medical degree in 1956. In 1957, he began training in
radiology at Bellevue Hospital in Manhattan. He married Susanne Schulte
on August 15, 1965 in Stamford, CT at the Church of the Archangels with
Fr. George Poulos officiating.  After working in Stamford, CT and
Hopedale, IL, Dr. Michaelides came to Ogdensburg in 1974. Since 1974,
Dr. Michaelides has served the North Country as a diagnostic
radiologist. He served as chief of Radiology at A. Barton Hepburn
Hospital, and also provided services to Star Lake Hospital and the St.
Lawrence Psychiatric Hospital. In addition, Dr. Michaelides served his
nation, caring for patients at Fort Drum as a radiologist at Guthrie
Clinic from 1991 until his retirement in 2001. In lieu of flowers,
