Funeral services for Morris Needle, age 77, of United Helpers Nursing Home, will be held on Wednesday, June 10, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. at Notre Dame Church with Rev. F. James Shurtleff officiating. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Frary Funeral Home. Mr. Needle passed away at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center on Saturday, June 6, 2009.
Mr. Needle is survived by a brother, Frederick Needle, of
Brier Hill; a sister, Marjorie Hewitt, of
Ogdensburg; two nieces, Nancy Chambers and Debbie McMahon, both of Ogdensburg;
one nephew, Courtney and his wife, Crystal, of Brier Hill; one aunt, Anna Gore,
of Ogdensburg; great nieces and great nephews.He was predeceased by a sister, Nancy, at infancy.
Mr. Needle was born on May 14, 1932 in Ogdensburg, the son
of Edward and Irene Gore Needle. He graduated
from Ogdensburg Free Academy. He served
in the National Guard for over 31 years. He married Helen Harrigan. That
marriage ended in divorce. He worked for
Yellow Taxi and for Cubby’s Taxi. He
also has a trash hauling business, Needle’s Trucking.
Mr. Needle was a member of the Franco American Club and the
American Legion, where he was commander for three years. He was also a member of the Amvets, the VFW,
DAV, the Moose Lodge and the Elks Club.
