Norma J. Demers

Funeral services for Norma Jean Demers, age 82, of Ogdensburg, NY, will be held on Wednesday, November 7, 2018, at 11:00AM at Notre Dame Church with Rev. Joseph Morgan officiating. Interment will be at Foxwood Memorial Park. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, November 7, 2018, from 9:00AM to 10:30AM at Frary Funeral Home, Ogdensburg, NY. Mrs. Demers passed away on Monday, November 5, 2018, at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center.

Norma is survived by her loving husband, Hector Demers; two sister-in-law’s, Audrey McGrath and Lauretta (Joan) McGrath, both of Ogdensburg, NY and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She is predeceased by four brothers, Harold McGrath, John J. McGrath, Lloyd A. McGrath and Rev. Gerald F. McGrath and two sisters, Ruth Tragaser and Hilda Hollis.

Norma was born on December 22, 1935, in Ogdensburg, NY, the daughter of Llewellyn and Frances Lashomb McGrath. She graduated from St. Mary’s Academy in 1953 and went on to the Ogdensburg Business School. Norma married Hector H. Demers at St. Mary Cathedral on September 2, 1972, with the brother of bride, The Rev. Gerald F. McGrath and Rev. Victor Villeneuve officiating. Norma was first employed as a transfer agent at the St. Lawrence State Hospital and retired as a Transporter in 1991 after thirty five years of service.

Norma enjoyed knitting and quilting. She was a member of the Women of the Moose and the St. Mary’s Cathedral and the Sacred Heart Society of the parish.

Donations may be made in Norma’s memory to Notre Dame Heritage Fund, 125 Ford Avenue, Ogdensburg, NY 13669.
