Bonnie is survived by her beloved husband, Richard L. Wright, whom she married on July 12, 1975, at Notre Dame Church in Ogdensburg. She is also survived by her children: Scott Wright (Amy) of Lisbon, NY; Nicholas Wright of Kennebunk, ME; Shannon Smaciak (Shawn) of Columbia, SC; and Andrew Wright (Robyn) of Mount Prospect, IL. Her grandchildren, Makayla, Lily, and Jenna Wright; Logan, Bailey, and Colbie Smaciak; and Lucy Wright, were the light of her life. Bonnie is also survived by lifelong friends, and countless others who were touched by her warmth and generosity.
Bonnie was predeceased by her parents, Richard E. Winter and Anita L. (Beauchamp) Winter, and her cherished daughter, Lindsay Anita Wright.
Born on August 3, 1953, in Malone, NY, Bonnie attended St. Mary's Academy and later transferred and graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy in 1971. Following the legacy established by her father, Richard E. Winter, who founded Pepsi-Cola Ogdensburg Bottlers, Inc. in 1943, Bonnie went on to become the CEO, a company she worked tirelessly to support and grow, over the course of its eighty-three years in business. She eventually led the Pepsi Ogdensburg team to win the coveted Donald Kendall Pepsi Bottler of the Year in 2011, achieving a dream of her father's since he had opened the operation. Bonnie, along with her husband Dick at her side, continued their commitment to the Richard E Winter Cancer Center while supporting their ability to provide accessible cancer care in the North Country.
In 2012, she played a key role in making it possible for all Ogdensburg residents to enjoy the Ogdensburg Municipal Pool free of charge for the next five years, highlighting her commitment to enhancing the quality of life for others. Bonnie was a tireless and positive force in her community, always eager to help those in need. Her legacy reached an extensive list of volunteer organizations including The Ogdensburg Boys and Girls Club, Ogdensburg Garden Club, the Hepburn Auxiliary, Zonta, Frederic Remington Art Museum, Canisius College Trustees, Ringling College Of Art and Design Trustees, OFA Band Boosters, Odyssey of the Mind, Ogdensburg Seaway Festival, Clintons Ditch Cooperative Board of Directors, and the Sensational Seventies Reunion.
She was an avid gardener, quilter, lover of the St. Lawrence River, and a fan of the Ogdensburg restaurant scene (but not her kitchen!) She also spent many happy hours with her children, grandchildren and friends in Daytona Beach and Walt Disney World. Bonnie was affectionately called "Nannie" by her grandchildren, and she adored spending time with them, always making them feel loved and cherished.
Bonnie will be deeply missed, but her legacy will continue through her children, grandchildren, and the many lives she touched.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bonnie's memory to the Ogdensburg Boys and Girls Club, 722 Patterson Street, Ogdensburg, NY, and the St. Joseph's Foundation, 950 Linden Street, Ogdensburg, NY 13669.
