Darlene Gae Hull

Darlene Gae (Smith) Hull, age 81, of Antwerp, NY, passed away on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Syracuse. In accordance with her wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral services. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Gouverneur at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are entrusted to Frary Funeral Home of Gouverneur.

Darlene is survived by her children, John Hull Jr. of FL, Michael (Tammy) Hull of Watertown Center, NY, Michelle Bachini of Antwerp, NY, and Deborah LaMont of Brewerton, NY; her brother, Gerald H. Smith of Idaho; step-brother, Donald Gillette Jr. of Mt. Dora, FL; 9 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Gerald Smith and Maraleen Gillette; two brothers, Steven Smith and Martin Smith; and a sister, Jo Ann Richardson.

Born on May 6, 1943, in Gouverneur, NY, Darlene was the daughter of the late Gerald H. Smith and Maraleen I. "Poopsie" (Skinner) Gillette. She graduated from Indian River Central School in 1961 and married the love of her life John Clarence Hull on June 23, 1961. After 63 years of being happily married, John passed away on March 22,2025, and Darlene quickly followed 10 days later knowing John would likely get himself into trouble without her around. Darlene took great pride in raising her family and devoted her life to caring for them.

Darlene enjoyed golf, tennis, puzzles, her family, and her dog Rocky. She especially enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Darlene's memory to the Antwerp food pantry located at the Antwerp Town Hall at 45 Main Street, Antwerp, NY 13608.
