Patrick Whitney

A celebration of life for Patrick D. Whitney, age 56, of Ogdensburg, will be held at their home Thursday, July 11, 2019 from 2:00PM to 4:00PM. A memorial service will be begin at 4:00PM with Deacon Anthony Pastizzo officiating.  Arrangements are under the care and direction of Frary Funeral Home, Ogdensburg. Mr. Whitney passed away on Thursday morning, July 4, 2019 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Whitney was survived by his wife, Susan; three children, Kacie Whitney and her fiancé, Robert Brown, Russell Whitney, and Jacob and his companion Nicole Warner all of Ogdensburg; two step children Zachary and Nolan Rishe of Ogdensburg, two brothers, Kevin Whitney and his wife Mary, of Ogdenburg, and TJ Whitney and his wife Kona of North Carolina; two sisters, Jean Goldie and her husband Robert, of Lisbon, Maureen Woods and her husband Scott of Hammond; one aunt, Anne Bertolf, of Ogdensburg; three grandchildren; Kierce Whitney, Spencer Whitney, and Emerson Rishe; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, Beecher and Jean Whitney.

Patrick was born on February 28, 1963 in Ogdensburg NY, the son of Beecher and Jean (Crawford) Whitney.  He graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy in 1981 and continued his education in civil engineering at Canton ATC graduating with an associate’s degree in 1983.  Throughout high school and college, Pat worked at P & C Foods. After graduating college, he first began working at Nine Mile Point 2 in Oswego, NY in 1983.  He later went to work with the Department of Transportation as a civil engineer and retired in April of 2018, after 32 years of service.  A marriage to Kimberly Graveline-Munroe ended in divorce.  On October 8, 2016, Pat married Susan Dickinson in Ogdensburg, NY.

Pat enjoyed working, spending time outdoors, and using his many talents to remodel his home for himself and Susan.  Pat also loved traveling and spending time with his family and friends.  Pat’s love and laughter was instilled in everyone he came into contact with.  He was a beautiful person who will never be forgotten.

      My condolences for the family. Growing up with his son Jacob, and being friends for a long time, Pat was so kind to me. I felt like we was an unrelated uncle and he was a great, hardworking, and loving person. He will truly be missed. Rest In Peace Pat. ❤️

    Sue and family I am so very sorry Pat was a great man always smiling.
    Back in the early 1990s the DOT hired temp help and the first winter I was assigned to a plow truck with pat back then the dot required two men per truck one to drive and passenger to run the wing Pat and I had so many laughs. He was an awesome man and I thought the world of Pat Prayers to you all

    Sue, Jeanie and I are so sorry for your loss. Pat was one of the good ones and will be missed by many.W started at the DOT the same day, and soon became great friends. Always remember his smile, and all the corny jokes he told. We spoke on messenger just a short time ago, and both he and I had plans on the two of you coming down for a visit when he was feeling better. Sure you made him really happy, which he deserved, thank you for that.

    I am truly sorry to hear of the passing of Pat Whitney. I grew up as a kid hanging around his kids and always at Pat’s house by the river.     My condolences to the entire entire family. He was truly a sweet guy and will be missed by many people. I remember the first time I met him, I found out he work with my Uncle through Sutko which does roads with DOT and he asked if my family owned the company because so many of my relatives worked there. He was funny. From then on he would always be sure to say hello and always make you laugh. May he Rest In Peace.
