Funeral services for Robert Guimond, Ogdensburg, will be
held on Monday (January 26, 2009) at 10 a.m at Notre Dame Church with the Rev.
F. James Shurtleff officiating. Calling hours will be held on Sunday (January
25, 2009) from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 at Frary Funeral Home. Mr. Guimond
passed away on Friday (January 23, 2009) at Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center,
surrounded by his family.
Mr. Guimond is survived by his wife, Janet; One son Michael
Guimond and his wife, Angela (DiTullio), Massena; One daughter Aimee (Guimond)
and her husband, Matthew Flynn, Ogdensburg; Four grandchildren, Alyssa, Laura
and Anthony (Tony) Guimond, Massena; and Samantha Flynn, Ogdensburg.
Mr. Guimond was born on November 5, 1937 in Ogdensburg, the
son of Joseph and Jeanne Bayard Guimond. He graduated from Ogdensburg Free
Academy in 1955. He married Janet Pinkerton on April 8, 1967 at St. Mary’s
Cathedral with Msgr. Arquitt officiating.
Mr. Guimond first sailed the Great Lakes, later going to
work on the St. Lawrence Seaway. He then became a Journeyman Electrician with
IBEW Local 910. He worked as an electrician for Simon Sargent at Fort Drum,
until he was injured on the job and diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. At one
time he owned a hobby farm. He was a 50 year member of the IBW electrical
union. He was very faithful to Notre Dame Church and was active in the Bishops
Fund. He was a member of the third order of St. Francis. He was a history and
