Funeral services for Suzanne Powers, age 61, of 950 Elizabeth Street, Ogdensburg, will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2009 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Cathedral with Rev. Terry Lavalley officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Frary Funeral Home. Mrs. Powers passed away Sunday, June 7, 2009 at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Powers is survived by her husband, John; one son, John of Ogdensburg; two daughters, Cindy Alcombright of Charlotte, NC and Shelley Powers-Pearson and her husband, Daniel, of Ogdensburg; eight brothers; five sisters; a brother, George Towsley, of Smith Falls, Ontario, Canada; three grandchildren, Eric LeClair, Alexei Alcombright and Harry Powers; nieces and nephews of the Sovie, Carr, Bernhard, and Campbell families; a sister-in-law, Marilyn Carr; and a brother-in-law, Jerry Carr.

Mrs. Powers was born on May 22, 1948 in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, the daughter of Clarence and Margaret Towsley. She attended local schools in Windsor. She was a homemaker all her life. She enjoyed traveling, spending time with her grandchildren and spending time on the river. Her first and greatest love was taking care of her shining star, her husband.

Donations may be made in her memory to the St. Jude’s Foundation.

    I am so sorry I can’t be with you but I have you in my thoughts and prayers. I will truly miss my friend Sue and will cherish all the memories I shared with her and the family. Myrtle, Aunt Sue’s, Camp, card games, holiday fun or just talking over coffee. Sue was a caring and giving person who certainly made a difference in my life & the lives of many people.She will be greatly missed.
