Funeral
services for Thomas Carmody, age 64, of North Syracuse and formerly of
Ogdensburg, will be held in Ogdensburg on Tuesday, November 4, 2008 at 10:00
a.m. at St. Mary’s Cathedral with Father Terry LaValley officiating. Entombment
will be in Foxwood Memorial Park. Calling hours will be held from 2:00 to 4:00
and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Frary Funeral Home on Monday, November 3, 2008. Mr.
Carmody peacefully passed away Saturday morning (November 1, 2008) at Community
General Hospital in Syracuse with his wife and daughters at his side after a 6
year battle with GIST cancer.

 

 

Mr.
Carmody is survived by his wife, Carol; his mother, T. Leona Carmody of
Ogdensburg; four daughters, Kimberly Herrmann and her husband, Thomas, of
Cicero, Michelle Monteleone and her husband, Joseph, of Woodstock, GA, Patricia
Palmer and her husband, Special Agent Brent Palmer, of Rome, NY and Kellie
Briggs and her significant other, Randy Stowe, of Lisbon; one brother, Theodore
and wife Linda of Troy NY; and one sister, Trudy Tesluk and her husband,
Michael, of Renselaer NY. He was predeceased by a brother, Lance Cpl. Timothy
Carmody who was killed in action in Vietnam in 1968, his father, Dennis Carmody
and granddaughter Bailey Ann Herrmann.

Mr.
Carmody was born on November 24, 1943 in Ogdensburg, the son of Dennis and T.
Leona Langley Carmody. He graduated from OFA in 1961 at the top 10% of his
class with honors. He attended Potsdam State College to pursue a degree in
Education. He married his high school sweetheart, Carol Premo, on February 20,
1965 at St. Mary’s Cathedral with Msgr. Bailey officiating. Mr. Carmody began
working at Atlantic Building Supplies Inc. in 1965. In 1971 was hired as store
manager for Triple A Lumber in Massena NY and then promoted to General Manager.  He has also worked for Iroquois Industries
Inc., in Syracuse NY, Plattsburgh Building Supply and then relocated to his
hometown in 1990 to work at Ashley’s Home Center in Ogdensburg as corporate
vice president then store manager. He would have retired from Triple A Lumber
in Canton NY where he worked as a Purchasing Agent for many years.

Professionally,
Tom Carmody has been a member of the Board of Directors for North County Supply
in the 1970’s and Vice President of Northern New York Lumber Dealers Assoc
(NNYLDA) and NRLA in the early 1980’s. His civic involvement includes running
for Massena Town Council in 1975, a past member of the Massena Lion’s Club and
Moose Lodge in the 1970s and a Kiwanis Soccer Coach from 1970-1990s. Tom was
awarded “Lumberperson of the Year” in 2005 by the NNYLDA. Tom
Carmody’s hobbies include fantasy football and baseball, home remodeling,
pool/billiards and stamp collecting. Tom was a loving husband and father who
enjoyed spending time with his family, seven grandchildren, Ashley, Ben,
Breanna, Jake, Joey, Maria and Ethan and one great granddaughter, Emma.

    Carol, Kim, Michelle, Patty and Kellie. I send my deapest sympathies to all of you. Tom was apart of my life during my High School days. I have many memories of him that I will alway remember. Playing video golf, watching the Yankees and sharing a bowl of popcorn are some of the things I will never forget. He was a great man and he always treated me like a son. Johnnie

    Although I only worked with Tom a short time at Triple A I will always remember him. He made an impression on everyone he has ever met and he will not be forgotten. Please know that the Triple A family is here for you and thinking of you all at this difficult time.

    To Carol and family,please accept my deepest sympathy in your loss. I don’t know if you rememeber me I stopped at your house this spring to visit Tom and Iam so glad that I did. I have known Tom for very many years although he was never responsible for my lines that I have sold we would always have some conversations on my visits to the account or even at the outing after Robs golf tournament.
