Vera M. Weaver

Graveside services for Vera Mae Weaver, age 76, of Harrisville, NY, will be held in the Spring at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Harrisville Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Frary Funeral Home, Harrisville. Mrs. Weaver passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2019, at Carthage Area Hospital.

Vera is survived by a son, Samuel G. Weaver, of Hartford, VT; two daughters, Trudy Matlock of Centennial, CO and Mrs. Billy Joe (Tammy) Caldwell of Brenton, LA; a brother, Clayton Swem of Harrisville, NY, four grandchildren and four great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Vera is predeceased by her son, Stuart L. Weaver; two brothers, Francis and Charles Swem; two sisters, Mary (Swem) Rebb and Helen Coleman.

Vera was born on February 12, 1943, in Watertown, NY, the daughter of Edmund Palmer and Frances Inez (Gonio) Swem. She was educated in local schools. Vera married Lane G. “Rick” Weaver in Harrisville, NY in 1960. He predeceased her on December 25, 1993. Vera worked for a time at the VA Hospital and later retired as a cashier after seventeen years of employment from Ames Department Store in Gouverneur, NY.

Vera was a member of the VFW, American Legion and also the AMVETS.

    So sorry to hear of Vera passing. She was a very nice woman. She and my dad had some very memorable good times with I and my sisters and brother. We loved her dearly. She was a great friend. Thoughts and prayers to her family at this time.
