Funeral services for William
Hollis, age 83, will be held on Wednesday, May 6, 2009, at 1:30 p.m. at St.
Mary’s Cathedral with Fr. Jay Seymour officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Mr. Hollis passed away on Monday, May 4, 2009
at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Arrangements are with Frary Funeral Home.
Mr. Hollis is survived by his
wife, Hilda (McGrath) Hollis; six children, Richard and his wife, Joanna, Charles
and his wife, Debbie, William, Pat and her husband, Rick Polniak, David and his
wife, Kim, Kevin and his wife, Heather; twelve grandchildren; four great
grandchildren; one brother, Jack and his wife, Elaine; two sisters, Marion
Dawson and Betty Hollis; one sister-in-law, Jean Hollis, all of
Ogdensburg. He is predeceased by a
sister, Rita Montroy; one brother, Charles Hollis; and two great grandsons,
Gage and Koltyn Stull.
Mr. Hollis was born on
December 14, 1925 in Ogdensburg, the son of William and Pearl Farrand
Hollis. He attended local schools. He served in the US Marine Corps in WWII from
1944 to 1946. He worked for New York
Telephone as a lineman, retiring in 1986 after 42 years of service. He was a life member of the V.F.W. and
belonged to the Pioneers of America.
Mr. Hollis enjoyed carpentry,
woodworking, making decoys, hunting, fishing and spending time with his
