William J. (Jim) Dodd

Funeral services for William J. (Jim) Dodd, age 75, of Ogdensburg, NY, will be held on Friday, December 1, 2017, at 10:00AM, at St. Mary’s Cathedral with Rev. Kevin O’Brien officiating. Burial will be in Makawao Cemetery in Makawao, Hawaii. Calling hours will be held from 2:00PM to 4:00PM and 6:00PM to 8:00PM on Thursday, November 30, 2017, at Frary Funeral Home. Mr. Dodd passed away at his home on Sunday, November 26, 2017, surrounded by his loving family.

William is survived by his wife, Muriel; three sons, Andy Dodd and his wife, Karrie, of Ogdensburg, NY; Danny Dodd of Spokane, WA and Jonathan Dodd of Maui, HI; four sisters, Joanne Duprey and her husband, Mike, of Lisbon, NY, Sandy Dodd Patterson and her husband, James, of Ocklawaha, FL, Kathy Larock and her husband, Steve, of Ogdensburg, NY and Patricia Dodd-McNeil of Decatur, GA; two brothers, Thomas Dodd and his wife, Elizabeth of Chittenango, NY and Donald Dodd and his wife, Sue, of Slate Run, PA; seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.

William was born on October 23, 1942, in Poughkeepsie, NY, the son of William and Jean Bushaw Dodd. He graduated from St. Mary’s Academy in 1961. William married Muriel Elaban on July 18, 1963, in Hawaii. Mr. Dodd entered the United States Army in 1961 and served until 1964 when he was honorably discharged. William and his father owned J & B Plumbing in Ogdensburg, NY until he joined the Local 117, where he did refrigeration and air-conditioning. Mr. Dodd retired from Local Union 675 in Hawaii in 2000.

Mr. Dodd enjoyed growing corn, having honeybees, traveling, hunting, fishing and camping.

    jim was a great cousin–he was the last one to always recall my childhood nickname..jimmy could wind you up in 2 seconds but always left you with a laugh and a smile—i’ll miss jimmy at the donut king and all around the north country–my dad and jimmys grand mother were kin god bless youjimmy-safe journey-peter–

    sorry to hear about Ji Didn’t know he was dick unil a few weeks ago.My brother goes to Claxton Memorial HOSPITAL an he tol me about.

    Sandy & family, Muriel & family, I just saw today, Dec. 4th, where Jim has passed away. I am shocked and very saddened to hear this. I have known Jim, Sandy and the Dodd family since high school days. Jim was a sweetheart of a guy. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you all at this most difficult time.

    Andy and Karrie, and family, I am so sorry about your Dad. I did not realize he had passed away until I just saw it here today. Remember Dad so well from School and his trips to the deli to fix things. Please know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.
